If 2020 wasn't bad enough, the media will make it seem worse

The media is trying to make it seem like there is a new giant wave of Covid 19. There are a couple of small hot spots in the Midwest, Wisconsin seems to be the worse though still nothing major. What they are mainly "pushing" is the number of new "cases" IE: Positive test results. The facts are, of course, less dramatic. For one thing they have ramped up testing. The media is saying that we have not had this many new "cases" since August. This is true, but look at the testing in August compared to the last month.
As you can see, back in August we were performing between 500,000 and 750,000 tests a day. In the last month the testing is now between 750,000 and over a million a day. In fact in the last month we have tested over a million people a day six times including the last two days. So of course we are going to have more positive tests (cases). BUT what are the percentage of positive tests to the number of tests? The infection rate.
As you can see, even with more tests, the infection rate is still dropping and even less than it was in August. We hover right around the 5% mark while back in August we were in the 6% to 9% range, July was even higher.
Finally with all these new "cases" what does that mean for the most important statistic, deaths?
Again, daily deaths are still, though painfully slow, dropping. You can see this clearly in the seven day daily average.
For most of August we were averaging over a 1000 deaths a day, for the past month we have averaged less than 800 and if this trend continues we will soon go below 700 a day.
I expect come November 4th, whatever the outcome, the reporting on Covid will greatly change. Until then we just have to live with the media hype, or ignore it.
Jer Did you see that the WHO came out and stated that the Lockdown strategy being used is not a good way to protect people? "We" have been stating that for months!
